End 2017 Strongly with a Little Planning, Support, and Cleaning

Six Months in … Need Support?

What Happened to All Your Plans?

Support and planning can make 2017 the banner year you'd hoped for. | Mastermind Groups with Laura Hess are your secret weapon.

What Are You Doing the Rest of the Year?

We’re at the halfway mark for 2017. How are you doing with those resolutions you set back in January? What about goals – did you have any? Are you on track?

First of all, I can’t believe we’re waving goodbye to June and are heading into July. That means the holidays are right around the corner. Yikes!

I know a lot of women I spoke to in January had very high hopes for the year. They said they felt like life was going to turn around, and business would be booming. (We all start a new year with optimism, right?)

I also know most of the women I’d heard this from are not faring a lot better than they were in 2016. Can’t blame it on the economy, or the weather. So what’s going on? Why are so many business women not thriving and what can we do about it?

I’ll grant that life happens and sometimes gets in the way, but if that’s happening over and over then maybe it’s just a symptom of something bigger. We’ll leave that for another time.

Turn the Year Around

Let’s stick with how to turn this year around and end it with a big finish.

First, get rid of the things that are getting in your way, the things that weigh you down, distract you, or drain your energy in any way. Those are all impediments to your success. As long as you allow them to remain in your life, they’ll continue to hold you back.

I’ve written a lot on the topic already, and we’ve even released a book about eliminating. It’s free so you can get a copy of it: It’s not the Bears that Will Get You: It’s the Bugs.

Guarantee: Eliminate the “bugs,” and you’ll be more productive, have more energy, and experience greater success. Not sure how to do it? Join a Bug-Free Zone© group and spend 30 days honing your skills to eliminate distractions.

Next, get the support you need. I’m a member of a mastermind group that keeps me focused and moving forward. As a business owner working from home, I don’t have other women around me for the support we all need. My mastermind group gives me that support. My business may not be where I want it yet, but I’m heading in the right direction, and it’s largely because of my mastermind group.

You’ll find mastermind groups popping up everywhere. They’re easy to find. But before you join one, educate yourself on what to expect. I joined three colleagues to write a Consumer’s Guide for mastermind groups: Find Your Perfect Mastermind Group. Like our It’s Not the Bears book, it’s free to you. We wrote it as a way to be sure anybody who’s interested in mastermind groups would know what to look for so they wouldn’t get caught in a group that wasn’t right for them.

Finally, be very clear on exactly what you want for your life and business. That means know your desired outcomes. Sounds a lot like having a goal, right? Yep. You have six months left in 2017. What is it you want to have, or to have done, by December 31?

You already know about SMART goals. Use that model as you’re thinking about the next six months. Make sure any goal is clear and realistic. Six months is not a long time. Set yourself up to win.

Nobody achieves success alone.

Surround yourself with the right people. Be willing to be challenged and held accountable. Focus and stay focused on what’s most important. You can get all this from a mastermind group. I’m passionate about their power. The right one can give you the extra push to make the balance of 2017 exactly what you want it to be.
